NASC Membership Categories

Thank you for considering membership in the National Animal Supplement Council. Our collective success as an organization is enhanced by increasing our membership at all levels.

The NASC welcomes responsible industry participants that supply, sell or depend on products similar to dietary supplements for humans. Our scope is limited to products for animals not intended for human consumption, such as dogs, cats and horses. Millions of consumers and numerous businesses in the global marketplace are affected by the issues our industry faces, and we would be pleased to have you join us as we take action to achieve the following objectives:

  • Work cooperatively with state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure optimal outcomes for all stakeholders
  • Seek to create a regulatory environment that is fair, reasonable, responsible and nationally consistent
  • Ensure the continued availability of animal health supplements, which our stakeholders depend upon for the health and well-being of the animals in their care

The NASC offers five membership categories:

  • Primary Supplier—Companies involved in supplying finished animal health & nutritional supplements. Regardless of whether your company manufactures the products, or you sell products under your label that were produced by a third-party manufacturer, your company is the Supplier of Record and is responsible for ensuring your products meet required regulatory and quality standards. NASC Primary Suppliers are also required to adhere to NASC’s quality standards, which include submitting to an independent facility audit to ensure compliance with our quality system requirements and paying monthly dues. Membership as an NASC Primary Supplier is subject to approval by the NASC Board of Directors.  [Primary Supplier Membership Application]

  • Preferred Supplier—Companies that wish to provide products and services to NASC Primary Suppliers, including raw materials (ingredients), contract manufacturing (dosage form products and feed supplements), analytical laboratory services, and other services such as insurance, business consulting, legal expertise, etc. would join as a Preferred Supplier. The goal of this program is to prequalify vendors so that NASC members may accept and use Preferred Suppliers’ products and services without having to meet additional vendor qualification procedures required under NASC cGMPs. Companies must qualify to join the Preferred Supplier program, as well as pay annual dues.  [Preferred Supplier Membership Application] [Preferred Supplier FAQ]
