Cats and dogs couldn’t be more different but one thing is for certain—cats love treats just as much as dogs! In fact, treats can be a helpful tool if you’re trying to train your cat to learn a manner or a trick. But treats can also be a way to express your love. Just be sure to feed treats in moderation so your cat maintains a healthy weight. Below are some healthy, cat-friendly treat recipes that will make your cat love you more than their next meal!
Sardine Soft Serve
This is a great tasty treat to offer your kitty on a warm summer’s day. While it may not be your typical flavor of soft serve, your furry friend will love it more than plain old vanilla! For this recipe, you’ll need 2 ingredients and a blender; it doesn’t get simpler than that.
Ingredients:
- ½ can of coconut milk (unsweetened)
- 1 can of sardines in water (boneless, less than 10% sodium)
Directions: Drain and rinse the sardines. Place in the blender, and pulse until you get a consistent, flakey mixture. Add half a can of coconut milk to the blender and pulse until combined. Pour mixture into a plastic container with a lid and place into the freezer to set overnight.

Salmon Crackers
Reward your fish-loving feline with these easy-to-make, salmon-flavored crackers. They are crunchy, nutritious, and gentle enough for cats of any age to chomp on.
Ingredients
- 10 oz of canned salmon (undrained)
- 1 egg
- 2 cups of almond flour
Directions: To a blender, add the entire 10 oz can of salmon, including the water, and pulse until a smooth mixture is reached. In a stand mixer, combine salmon, 1 egg, and 2 cups of almond flour until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add up to 1/3 cup of water. The dough should be tacky but not sticky. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until about 1/4-inch thick. Use a 3/4-inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice to create your treats. Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes.

- Goat milk (fresh or dehydrated)
- Mix-ins such as plain diced chicken breast, chopped sardines, or dried catnip (optional)
NOTE: If you are using dehydrated goat milk, rehydrate according to label instructions before getting started.
Directions: Pour the goat milk into ice cube trays, then add your mix-ins of choice. Place the tray in the freezer and let set overnight.
