Brutus & Barnaby of Clearwater, FL, is recalling all package sizes of its pig ear dog treats because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products are identified by the Brutus & Barnaby logo (see photos above)  and say “Pig Ears 100% Natural Treats for Dogs” on the package.  The treats were available in 8-count, 12-count, 25-count and 100-count sizes and were distributed throughout the U.S. via Amazon.com, Chewy.com, BrutusandBarnaby.com, and in the brick-and-mortar Nature’s Food Patch in Clearwater, FL.

Brutus & Barnaby has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem. Consumers who have purchased Brutus & Barnaby pig ears are urged to destroy any remaining product not yet consumed and to contact the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-489-0970, Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm EST.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products as well as humans who handle the contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to the products.
