Sun City, AZ | July 19, 2023 — The National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) is pleased to announce the addition of new employee Miriam Johnson in the role of Compliance Specialist. In this position, Johnson will be responsible for tasks including new member onboarding, label trainings, website reviews, NAERS monitoring, and day-to-day member support. Her first day on the job was Monday, July 17.
Before joining the NASC team, Johnson served in multiple roles in both compliance and inspection with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service’s Animal Feed Program. She also voluntarily participated in committee work for the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), including committee chair roles on the Feed Labeling Committee and the Inspection and Sampling Committee.
Johnson launched her career in the commercial swine division of Murphy-Brown, LLC, a division of Smithfield Foods, where she supervised farrowing house operations and served as assistant farm manager before transitioning to regulatory work in 2006.

Johnson is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where she earned her BS in Animal Science with minors in Nutrition and Agricultural Business Management. She is currently completing coursework to earn her Master’s Certificate in Feed Mill Science at North Carolina State University.
