The NASC Board of Directors selected Heroes and Horses as the nonprofit organization to support with this year’s conference fundraiser, and NASC members donated an incredible $19,000 to this great cause!
Heroes and Horses is a Montana-based program that rescues and breaks wild mustangs, and matches them with former combat veterans for expeditions through Montana’s uncharted wilderness. Facing daily adversity, the veterans find inner strength and perseverance as they overcome the physical and mental challenges of the journey.
Micah Fink, founder of Heroes and Horses, kicked off the conference fundraiser with a slideshow and stories from the trail about stubborn horses and wayward humans coming together to experience transformation. Funds were raised through a raffle and live auction, and Micah was deeply moved when he learned the amount members gave.
“It was truly an honor to have been chosen as the nonprofit the NASC supported during this year’s conference,” said Micah. “Witnessing the generosity of the attendees – many of whom were hearing about Heroes and Horses for the first time – was incredibly humbling. We cannot thank you enough for believing in what we do, and for supporting our initiative.”
Thank you to those who donated raffle and auction items, and to all who generously supported Heroes and Horses. You are helping to replace devastation with hope in the lives of brave American heroes.
Heroes and Horses can always use additional support, and has volunteer opportunities and a wish list posted on their website. Please consider getting involved!
